Junior Winter Open presented by PGA TOUR Superstore - Champions Announced
Junior Golf Championships presented by PGA TOUR Superstore got the 2011 season off to a great start during the Junior Winter Open at Barton Creek Resort. Participants and families alike enjoyed 2 great days of golf and manageable weather on the beautiful Crenshaw Cliffside course. All in all, there were junior golfers competing from all over Texas as well as Oklahoma, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Kansas.While the temperatures were a little chilly on Saturday morning, the action got off to a hot start. Tucker Allen a 9 year old shot the round of the weekend with a first round 69. Sean Wilcox was the other low round after day one with a 71. Players fought hard to get a feel for the undulating, fast greens on a pristine Crenshaw Cliffside course. Combining that with windy conditions (35+ Gusts) to the big elevation changes caused the course to play longer and more challenging than the scorecard suggested. At the end of the day, there were many tight races between the age divisions.
