Southwest Winter Open - 2010 Event Results

Universal Golf Solutions got the 2010 season off to a great start during the Southwest Winter Open at Barton Creek Resort and Spa.  Participants and families alike enjoyed 2 great days of golf and sunshine on the beautiful Crenshaw Cliffside course.  All in all, there were 62 junior golfers competing from all over Texas as well as Oklahoma, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana and Alabama.

While the temperatures were a little chilly on Saturday morning, the action got off to a hot start.  Playing in the second group of the day, 9 year old Crosby Guercio made a hole-in-one on the 100 yard  par-3 5th hole.  To keep the excitement rolling, he proceeded to birdie the 6th hole as well. The Southwest Winter Open along with Barton Creek Resort and Spa, Universal Golf Solutions and their Partners would like to congratulate Mr. Crosby Guercio for his first ever hole-in-one. The Southwest Junior Championships and UGS will provide Mr. Guercio with a $700 gift card to be used for his entry fees towards all their future events.

There weren’t any other hole-in-ones on Saturday, but there was still plenty of action.  Players fought hard to get a feel for the undulating, ultra fast greens on a pristine Crenshaw Cliffside course. Combining that with wet and windy conditions to the big elevation changes caused the course to play longer and more challenging than the scorecard suggested.  At the end of the day, there were many tight races between the age divisions.

Players were met with sunny skies and warmer weather on Sunday.  By early afternoon, temperatures were in the mid-60’s with a nice little breeze.  A drier course and perfect conditions led to better scores as well over half the field posted a score that was equal to or better than their score on Saturday.  The round of the day was posted by 12 year old Brad Dalke of Mansfield, Texas with a 4-under 68 on the day.  His round got off to a quick start as he was 3-under through the first 4 holes.

Universal Golf Solutions would like to congratulate the following winners of each age division:
